Saturday Song | “Come Thou Fount” | Mumford & Sons

One of my favorite bands takes their turn with one of my favorite hymns. (Song begins at :59)

Lyrics:

Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
	tune my heart to sing thy grace;
	streams of mercy, never ceasing,
	call for songs of loudest praise.
	Teach me some melodious sonnet,
	sung by flaming tongues above.
	Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it,
	mount of thy redeeming love.

2.	Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
	hither by thy help I'm come;
	and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
	safely to arrive at home.
	Jesus sought me when a stranger,
	wandering from the fold of God;
	he, to rescue me from danger,
	interposed his precious blood.

3.	O to grace how great a debtor
	daily I'm constrained to be!
	Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
	bind my wandering heart to thee.
	Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
	prone to leave the God I love;
	here's my heart, O take and seal it,
	seal it for thy courts above.

Saturday Song – I Will Wait (Mumford & Sons)

In honor of this week’s release, this week’s Saturday Song, is brought to you via Mumford and Sons.

Their new CD is entitled Babel. Though rich with theological imagery and lyrics, Mumford say Babel is not a religious statement.

If you get a chance, listen through the entire CD and decide for yourself.

Saturday Song (What Makes You Beautiful)

God can redeem anything! I love when S/He uses humans to do it.

My youngest daughter’s favorite song right now is One Direction‘s “What Makes You Beautiful.” Never a fan of boy bands myself, having a wife and two daughters means that I’m stuck with it. Interestingly, I really appreciate the message behind the song. Having spent the last month talking to people about identity issues, I’ve come to appreciate the themes of the tune.  I like what The Piano Guys have done with it more.

Enjoy

Saturday Song – Painting By Chagall

The right music makes writing easier. I have a Spotify playlist called, “Writing and Changing the World.” It’s the list I pull up when I sit down for extended periods of disemboweling myself over the computer. This is one of the tunes that’s in heavy rotation.
